My style of abstract painting is gestural. I am an action painter. Influenced by calligraphy, the “no-
mind” Zen brush painting method, psychotherapy and emotional release techniques; the marriage of
these modalities fuel my technique of Action Painting. Action (gestural movements, emotional and vocal
releases) enables me to step out of my intellect and tap into my subconscious. This results in work that
embodies the physical act of painting itself and is meant to touch the viewer on a visceral level.
I present my work as an invitation for the viewer to detach, gaze and perhaps experience an interlude
of emotions; it is this sense of primitive, visual language that offers a moment for intellectual repose. As
bodies of work maneuver between bold strokes of abstract forms and minimalist Zen brushwork, my
work remains true to expressing raw emotion, primal sensuality and spontaneous creativity.
Current (2-3 years) endeavors, other than painting on canvas, include experiments with painting
techniques on large scale substrates for interior/exterior environments, sculpture making and silk
textiles. Specializing in site-specific commissions, my works can be seen in a growing number of
private, corporate and public art collections. My studio career spans 20 years with 50+ exhibitions
from Naples, Boca Raton, Toledo, Vancouver, B.C., Luxembourg, Europe to Los Angeles and Chelsea,
NYC.
In addition to studio work –
I teach abstract/action painting at my Central Florida studio and I’m a passionate mentor for emerging
artists. I enjoy participating on visionary teams for corporate or community enhancement projects that
involve public art and I volunteer for public art & music events locally. I’m an avid student of
psychology and its relationship to health, healing and well being of the inner child/adult and I’m a
Godmother...!
